INFORMATION ON THE LAUNCH OF IDNs ENDING WITH .BE
Further to a recent change in the domain name sector, we announce the launch of IDN characters for the national Belgian .BE. top-level domain.
The availability of .be IDNs now offers you an opportunity to register .be domain names with accented characters. IDN stands for “Internationalized Domain Name” and refers to domain names composed of at least one character that is not found in the common alphabet (a-z), that is not a digit (0-9) or that is not a hyphen (-).
An example of an accented domain name: masociété.be
These characters will be launched on 11 June 2013 at 10:00 am. The characters that will be available include: ß, à, á, â, ã, ó, ô, þ, ü, æ, ú, ð, å, ï, ç, è, õ, ö, ÿ, ý, ò, ä, œ, ê, ë, ì, í, ø, ù, î, û, ñ and é.
The registration procedure for this type of domain name is the same as that for a non-accented domain name.
However, we draw your attention to the absence of a Sunrise period during which proprietors of earlier trade marks would be able to claim their rights of priority to obtain domain names. Reservations must therefore be made immediately and the rule that will apply is "first come, first served".
LAVOIX offers its services to help you register your domain names in Belgium.
We remain at your disposal for any information you may require.
