Professional Experience
Upon joining Lavoix in 2011 Jacob Klinkisch brought with him 8 years of prior professional experience gained at two German Industrial Property law firms. He has been a partner since 2017.
Having been trained as an electrical engineer, Jacob specialises in particular in computer implemented inventions, notably in the virtual machines and the internet security field. Additionally, he has advanced expertise in telecommunications, medical imaging and portable electronic devices. Further, he is also regularly works on behalf of clients in the fields of automotive components and medical devices.
He represents companies and entities in matters such as drafting and prosecution of patent applications, opposition proceedings and appeal proceedings at the EPO (European Patent Office) and the DPMA (German Patent and Trademark Office), as well as before the German federal patent court (for example in nullity or appeal proceedings). He also advises clients in case of disputes or litigation, and on aspects of employee invention remuneration in Germany.
Finally, he also undertakes filing of designs before the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) and the DPMA. He possesses dual qualifications to practise as patent attorney in France (Conseil en Propriété Industrielle CPI) and in Germany (Patentanwalt).
