Prior to joining Lavoix, she trained as a chemical engineer, and gained significant prior professional experience within the patent department of a multinational pharmaceutical company and then with major intellectual property law firms in London. She qualified as a French and European patent attorney, and as a chartered UK patent attorney.

Stéphanie Michiels joined Lavoix in 2003 and has been partner since 2007. Prior to joining Lavoix, she trained as a chemical engineer, and gained significant prior professional experience within the patent department of a multinational pharmaceutical company and then with major intellectual property law firms in London. She qualified as a French and European patent attorney, and as a chartered UK patent attorney.

 

Stéphanie has thus developed strong expertise in various areas  of chemistry, and particularly in pharmaceutical sciences, which she can share when with clients in the life sciences and materials fields.

 

Her valuable experience in French and European patent laws, in IP firms and as an in house attorney, in France and in the United Kingdom, is reflected in the assistance and support she provides to various entities in protecting and leveraging their intangible IP assets. Her areas of involvement include drafting patent applications, examination procedures for French, European and foreign patent applications, and opposition and appeals proceedings before the EPO and the relevant courts.

 

Particularly in the context of Due Diligence, she also performs in-depth reviews in respect of validity, freedom to operate, and portfolio audits.
