Donuts, which filed more than 300 applications for New gTLDS under the ICANN programme, recently announced the launch of the first new top-level domains for which it will be the registry.

The Sunrise period for nine new top-level domains should start soon.

  • .camera
  • .clothing
  • .equipment
  • .guru
  • .holdings
  • .lighting
  • .singles
  • .ventures
  • .voyage

This Sunrise period will last for 60 days and will allow trade mark proprietors to register the domain names that correspond to their trade marks on a priority basis.

We remind you that to benefit from this priority registration you must first register your trade mark in the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH).

In parallel, and to avoid cybersquatting risks, the Donuts registry has implemented a system to list blocked trade marks (the Domain Protected Marks List or DPML) for all of the top-level domains it will manage.

Once registered on this list, which requires payment of a fee and is only available to trade mark proprietors already registered with the TMCH, any application for a reservation of a domain name that identically reproduces the trade mark will be blocked for all top-level domains managed by Donuts. It will also be possible to ask for a trade mark associated with a keyword to be blocked.

Applications will be blocked for at least five years and up to a maximum of 10. Renewal periods of between 1 and 10 years have been planned.

However, the proprietor of an identical trademark that is eligible for a top-level domain under Sunrise may bypass this blockage and register the corresponding domain name.

Our legal department remains at your disposal to help you register your trade marks in the Trademark Clearinghouse and, if applicable, register your trade marks on the Domain Protected Marks List in the Donuts Registry.
