The EPO has announced that the notice from the EPO informing about the entry into the European phase before the EPO is discontinued.
The EPO has stopped sending out service letter EPO Form 1201 with effect from 1 November 2023. The form was used during the international phase to inform representatives, international agents and applicants about the steps to take to enter the European phase. Further, the Form 1201 included the EP application number.
The information for the entry in the European phase will be now available in a dedicated section on the epo.org website.
Applicants are able to find the EP application number in the following ways:
- If EPO Form 1200 (Request for entry into the European phase) is filed using one of the EPO’s online filing services, it will be included on the acknowledgement of receipt.
- Once the international application (PCT) is published, it can also be retrieved via the European Patent Register by entering the international application or publication number.
